A jet ferrying Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was compelled to make an unscheduled landing in the United Kingdom on Wednesday following a fracture was found in the plane's windshield, according to an announcement which verified that the secretary was unharmed.
"The plane touched down based on standard protocol and everyone onboard, such as Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a spokesperson said in a online announcement.
Hegseth was returning from a brief trip to Brussels during the flight.
This event isn't the first occasion that a US military aircraft ferrying a high-ranking official has encountered mechanical issues.
Months ago, a United States Air Force aircraft transporting the US Secretary of State to the city in Germany was required to head back to the US capital after suffering a mechanical problem.
