The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards unfolded recently, and in a stunning show, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. The breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive secured the coveted Top Game award, along with honors for Superb Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Enhancing the developer's triumph, the gifted actors also received personal awards. Jennifer English won Best Lead Performer for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Actor for his work as Verso. Moreover, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Studio of the Year. Overall, Clair Obscur and its creative team collected 7 awards during the event.
Other major winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which received Top Sound Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Best Indie Game (Self-Published) and Best PC Game. Notably, the bulk of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the public, with only 4 categories—Critics’ Choice, Rising Star, Hall of Fame, and Streamers’ Choice—determined by experts.
