Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on Monday, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Recovering from Minor Injuries

Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the sports world shared condolences for the fighter in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
